‘The money is in the list’, I’m sure you’ve heard that before but there’s much more to it than that. It’s not magic and you won’t start making money overnight with your list out of thin air. To make serious email profits there is a procedure involved that needs attention and compliance. Below, are the 10 crucial steps for enormous email profits:

1. Before sending out your first email, you need to determine the purpose and aim of your email campaign. What objective do you have in mind? To create goodwill, generate sales, expand the size of your list, or get referrals? You must be clear on what you want; otherwise, you will wind up getting very little.

2. You need to gain your customers trust. You can do so by sending them free samples or gifts on a regular basis. This will not only help you create a valuable image, but your customers will be more likely to buy the items you recommend. This will develop a relationship between you and your customers, and this is all important in developing your list.

3. Make sure your emails are on point and always keep your objectives in mind. Forget about telling them how cute your niece is unless it advances your objective.

4. When drafting your emails, use brief sentences and very simple language. Don’t try to impress them with your huge vocabulary, it won’t work.

5. Do a spelling and grammar-check before sending out your email.

6. Never try to be funny. Because most lists are made up of people from all over the world, some people will not understand your humor and others may be insulted.

7. Provide technical as well as non-technical information about the product or service you are promoting. Be clear and honest in letting them know how useful it can be. Never use hard sell tactics.

8. Never spam! Not only is it illegal, it will result in large numbers of people unsubscribing.

9. Use software that is available in the market to make sure your emails get through the spam filters. Good software can double or even triple the number of messages that are opened and acted upon.

10. Repetition sells. Although you shouldn’t send out the exact same email time and again, different variations of the same email spaced a week or so apart will increase results.
