Reduce Your Expenses and Improve Your Life

As the economy weakens world wide, people slip deeper and deeper into debt. And as they take on more debt, their personal financial situation only gets more and more bleak. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are steps that you can take to break that cycle and improve your financial situation.

Unfortunately, most people spend about 10% more than they earn, regardless of their income. And in a weak economy, this figure balloons even higher as personal income declines. When this happens, many people have problems meeting their monthly expenses.

In order to improve your financial situation you have two choices. Your first option is to bring more money into the household. This involves either finding a better paying job (which is difficult even in a good economy), or getting a part-time job on the side.

But unfortunately, this is not a viable option for many people. In that case, you should look to reduce your expenses. Although many people think that they are already living on a bare bones budget, this is usually not the case. In fact, most people spend a significant amount of money each month on non-essential purchases.

By employing a good disciplined system, most people can slash their expenses by a considerable amount. In many cases, the amount of your savings can exceed what you might expect to earn with a part-time job. Following are a few examples of some of the ways that you can save money on groceries:

Always make a grocery list before doing your shopping and only buy from the list. This is probably the number one mistake that people make. Never go grocery shopping when you are hungry. Hungry shoppers tend to buy more. This mistake can easily increase your bill by 5%. Beverages can put a serious dent in your budget. By switching over from soda and bottled beverages to tap water, you can save a considerable amount of money. An added benefit of making this change is the fact that you may lose some weight. Switch over from the name brand foods to generics and store brands. In most cases, your family won’t even know the difference. By making the changes listed above, you can expect to save between 20% and 30% on your grocery bill.

And that is just the beginning; there are many other techniques that you can use to reduce your monthly household budget. Check out my newest ebook for the details on how to slash expenses and put money in your pocket!

7 Easy Steps To Reduce Your Monthly Expenses By $700

Millions of people worldwide have financial problems brought on by over-spending and credit card debt. Many times this situation can be corrected by reducing your expenses. Most people are surprised at the amount of money that they can save by cutting back some of their expenses. If you find yourself in the situation, try some of the techniques below to reduce your expenses and put some money in your pocket.

1. Meals purchased outside the home
If you work or have school aged children, you can save a great deal of money by packing lunches. The average family spends over $200 per month on restaurant or take-out meals. By packing lunch every day, you can easily save $150.

2. Subscriptions
Cancel newspaper subscriptions and get your daily news online and from the television. Cancel magazine subscriptions and you can read many of your favorite magazines at your local library and save $8 a month.

3. TV
Are you really watching all those premium channels on TV? Cancel those expensive premium channels and try roughing it by watching the basic TV package. This can save you $40 each month.

4. Grocery shopping
You can save a lot here. Shop at the discount stores and whenever possible and buy items in bulk. Use coupons whenever possible and eliminate all junk food and pre-packaged meals. Although it is somewhat time consuming to make meals from scratch, it is much healthier for you and it is considerably cheaper. This can save you $100 each month.

5. Telephones
Many people today are reducing their phone bills by eliminating their land lines and keeping their cell phones. Save about $40 with this move.

6. Entertainment
Just because we are reducing expenses doesn’t mean that we have to sit home and vegetate. Remember, the best things in life are free. Read a best seller (that you get for free from the local library). The library also has other resources that you can take advantage of; most larger libraries offer free DVD rentals. So when you get tired of reading all those books from the library, check out a couple DVD’s. This can save you $150 a month.

7. Memberships
I never said this was going to be fun or easy. Terminate your gym, golf, any other clubs you have. Get your daily exercise by walking, running, hiking, or biking. This can save you at least $200 a month.

We’ve only completed the first seven steps and already you’ve saved almost $700 a month. Just wait and see how much you’ll save by the time we get to step 20!

Designing A Good Budget For An Early Retirement

A household budget is an important tool to make it easier to manage and control your family's finances. As with any important tool, you should have your budget writing. Many people say that they keep a budget in their head, but that never really works. Keeping your budget in a spreadsheet or written on paper is absolutely necessary if you really intend to use it. A comprehensive budget is an extremely important tool that allows you manage the family finances.

It is significant to keep a good attitude about your budget and do not view it negatively. Focus ion the advantages that it provides you with now and into the future. A well-designed budget should include money for entertainment as well as necessities. This goes a long way in allowing you to enjoy life as you save money while preventing you from living beyond your means.

When planning a budget it is important to consider all of the income and expenses within your household. Your budget should start as an outline to get a rough idea of what your expenses are. Make sure you include all of your expenses. If you stop on the way to work to buy coffee, include it in your budget outline. Don’t forget to add in an amount for savings each month. At this point, your budget is not set it in stone.

After you have included all of the information in your preliminary budget, go through it and determine what your totals are. Have you allocated enough to savings? Are there areas where you need to cut back or add in addition money? These are all questions that need to be answered before you finalize your budget. After you are satisfied with all of the numbers you have a completed budget.

The numbers you have in your budget are firm. Do not deviate from them. If you allocated 200 dollars for monthly entertainment and you blew the entire amount on the first Friday, too bad! You’ll have to watch TV, or read books for the rest of the month. But that is the value of a budget; it keeps you focused on the things that are important; like a comfortable retirement, or the kids’ college expenses. By planning your budget wisely, you can accomplish all of these things and still maintain a good quality of life.

How To Reduce Your Debt And Get Back On Your Feet

Are you deep in debt and sinking fast? Unfortunately, many people are in that situation but there are alternatives. It takes a committed effort. Aside from bankruptcy, there is only one way to get out of debt; pay it off. And there are only two ways to pay it off; bring more money into your household and use that extra cash to pay down debt, or reduce spending and use the savings to pay down debt. These are your only alternatives.

In addition to getting a part time job, there are other ways to bring in extra money. Have a garage sale. Clean out that junk in the garage and get it on the curb. You would be surprised at the stuff people will buy. This can be particularly profitable if your town participates in a yard sale day.

Another way to make some extra money is through Ebay. This is like an online garage sale. Gather up your old unwanted stuff, take a few digital pictures and your in business. In fact, many people do make a business out of selling used items on Ebay. After you’ve cleaned out the attic and garage, visit your neighbors garage sale and sell their junk on Ebay! Just make sure that you commit all of your profits to reducing your debt.

In addition to bringing in extra money, you should cut back on your expenses. Eating out is an area where you can save lots of money. Do you bring a lunch to work or eat out every day> Do you give your kids lunch money or pack their lunch. The average family spends over $2400 a year on food outside the home. By packing lunches, you can easily save $150 a month. Make sure you reduce your debt with this savings. No fair cheating.

Another way to save money is to leave your credit cards at home. For most of us, it’s all too easy to pull out the plastic if we don’t have the cash available for an impulse purchase. If you don’t carry the cards with you, you won’t be tempted. Although this won’t put any extra money in your pocket, it will prevent you from making your debt problem even worse.

How To Solve Severe Debt Problems

Credit cards can be a great help to help families to get those little extras when used properly. But when used excessively, they can lead to financial ruin. Most of these extreme credit problems are caused by an external event like the loss of a job or severe illness. But unfortunately, credit card companies don’t seem to care.

If you are having severe debt problems, there are steps you can take to improve your situation. The first step in solving your problem is to examine your expenses. Look at every expense with a fine toothed comb. Only keep expenses that are absolutely necessary. Examples of necessary expenses are:
Mortgage or rent
Utilities (heat, water, electricity)
Telephone
Food
Doctors and medication
Transportation expenses
Debt maintenance charges
Court imposed expenses

The second part of this equation is to eliminate all expenses that are not absolutely necessary. Examples of unnecessary expenses are:
Television (cable or satellite)
Shopping trips of any kind
Restaurant food
Entertainment expenses

Of course, these lists are not all inclusive, but you get the idea.

Another area where you can make substantial cuts is at the grocery store. Buy generic and store brands instead of the more expensive name brands. Eliminate soda from your food budget, drink tap water instead. Use coupons and shop at stores that pay double or triple on them. Always shop with a written shopping list and stick to it religiously. If an item is not on your list, do not put it into your cart.

Using the techniques above can easily shave 20 or even 30 percent off you monthly budget. Apply the money you saved to paying extra on your credit cards. If you only pay the minimum, it could take you 15 to 20 years to pay them off. By paying extra each month, you can pay them off in just a few years.

Reduce Debt And Get Back On Track Financially

Most people spend about 10% more than they earn each month. This contributes to a need to over use credit. When this happens over a long period of time, it can lead to serious credit difficulties.

But you do have alternatives to reduce debt and get back on track financially. In order to do this, you have to reduce your expenses and cut the fat out of your budget. Unfortunately, most people are not even aware that their budget is bloated with unnecessary expenditures. Through careful planning, most people can significantly cut their expenses and improve their financial situation.

Begin by writing down all of the items that you are currently spending money on each month. Don’t forget the little insignificant items like that cup of coffee at work. Although it may seem like a very small expense, those small expenses add up. If you spend $2.50 on coffee each day, it can amount to fifty dollars a month. If you buy a soda every afternoon, that’s another twenty dollars a month. Just these two meaningless expenses add up to seventy dollars.

If you do not believe that you spend money on any unnecessary items, carry a notebook around for a month. Each time you buy something, no matter how small it is, write it down. I think that you will find that you spend a considerable amount on frivolous impulse or unnecessary expenses.

The next step is to stop using those credit cards. There is no sense in trying to reduce your debt if you are going to make your situation worse by putting more on your credit cards. Leave your credit cards at home. If you don’t carry them around with you, you won’t be tempted to use them. Only spend money on the absolute necessities.

This should free up enough money so hat you can begin to pay off some of your debt. By carefully following these techniques, you can begin to get back on track financially.

How To Get The Things That You Want In Life

All of us have hopes and dreams about the little extras we want in life. But all too often, these dreams go unfulfilled due to a lack of money. Most people focus on the fact that they don’t make enough money or the fact that the cash is not available now. But there is a way that you can get those little extras with the money that you have right now.

Instead of focusing on your current lack of available funds, concentrate on cutting your expenses. Cutting your expenses is an extremely easy way to help make your real dreams become a reality. By making a serious cost cutting effort, you can easily save enough for that new super-fast computer, fancy sound system, flat screen television, dream vacation, or even a new car. All of these things are obtainable if you cut out those unnecessary expenses that you are wasting your money on now. Try some of the techniques below and I think that you will be surprised at the amount of money you can save.

Almost every time you make a purchase and pay cash, you get a few coins in your change. At the end of each day, put all of your change in a jar. This can very easily add up to several hundred dollars at the end of the year.

Your grocery bill is an area where you can save big bucks! First of all, never go into a grocery store without a list. Spend a few extra minutes and make a list of the items you need. Then buy just those items. You will be surprised at the number of impulse items that you buy at the grocery store.

Never buy prepared foods. That pre-made salad in a bag is twice the cost of buying the items separately and preparing the ingredients at home. This is true of almost all prepared foods. You pay dearly for convenience of prepared foods. As an added benefit, the meals you make yourself contain les chemical additives and are healthier for you.

Are you a big soda and bottled water drinker? Switch over to tap water and you can save a tremendous amount. Do you always buy the name brand product? Use the generics and store brands. In many cases, your family won’t even know the difference. These two techniques can shave fifteen to twenty percent off your grocery bill.

Check out my newest ebook for tons of other details on how to put money in your pocket (without having to get another job).

Find Extra Money To Go On That Cruise

Would you like to go on a cruise but just can’t afford it? Is you budget stretched to the limit? Well relax; things might not be quite as bad as you think. You probably have a lot more room in your budget than you know. If you are just making ends meet and living month to month, there may be a way that you can go on that cruise.

Most people spend much more money than they think on frivolous impulse items. That coffee every morning, or those candy bars in the afternoon all add up to a considerable amount. If you cut out those meaningless impulse purchases, you can put a substantial amount of money in your pocket every month. Following is a list of items that you might be able to save money on and put enough money away for that cruise:

1. Going out to eat. How many times during the course of an average month do you eat dinner at a restaurant? The average family spends about $200 each month on food eaten outside the home. That includes lunches for children in school. If you invest in a supply of brown bags and some lunchmeat, you can easily shave $150 off this amount.

2. Do you get coffee or some type of breakfast treat on your way to work each morning? The expense may seem meaningless, but when you add it up, it comes to a considerable amount. By spending just $2.50 a day for coffee and a bagel, the annual cost for this meaningless luxury is about $600. Invest in a pound of coffee and drink it at home. This can easily save you $500 per year.

3. Do you eat and drink on a regular basis? I though you might. You can save big bucks by changing your grocery buying habits. Many people drink nothing but bottled water and soda (along with the occasional beer). By switch over to tap water, you can save you almost $300 each year.

4. Use coupons at the grocery store and frequent stores that give double the amount for your coupons. This little trick can save you a cool $250 a year.

I could go on and on, but I think that is about enough for one article. Using just these 4 easy steps above, I’ve saved you about $2850 over the course of a year. Now, I’m not sure what kind of cruise you are considering, but $2850 will get you on a pretty decent cruise. So, happy cruising!

Get $300 For Your Online Business

Need money for your online business? How does a no strings attached, extra $300 bucks sound? If you run a household, an extra $300 to $500 could be as easy as falling off a log. If you are like most people, you spend money on all kinds of impulse purchase almost every day. In fact, I would be surprised if you only frittered away $300 a month. Most people spend much more and don’t even realize it.

If you want to get your hands on a few hundred bucks extra, try these tactics below to free up some money from your monthly budget.

My first piece of advice, leave those credit cards at home. Your credit cards should only be used for emergencies. (And no, needing a new pair of shoes is not considered an emergency.) Just using this one technique can reduce your monthly expenses by a considerable margin. But we won’t count this toward the $300 we are trying to save you. This one is a freebie.

Let’s get serious. How often do you eat either lunch or dinner outside the home? According to the Consumer Expenditure Survey from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, most families spend over $2400 per year on food away from home. The bulk of this money is spent for lunches while people are working or at school. If you brown bag it and pack your lunch, you can save a considerable amount. By making this one little change, you can save as much as $200 a month! See how easy that was? We are already two thirds of the way toward generating that extra $300!

How about groceries? I assume that you eat on a regular basis. If that is the case, I can save you a bunch of money here. First, make a grocery list before you step one foot into the grocery store. Second, stick to your list religiously. If something is not on your list, you cannot buy it. Buy store brands and generics as opposed to the name brands. If you don’t tell them you family will never know the difference. Use coupons! Stay away from the convenience and prepared foods. You will always save money by making it yourself from scratch. And, I can almost guarantee you that it tastes much better. Give up soda and bottled water. Tap water is much better for you and costs about 1/100 of the price. Using just these few grocery strategies can easily save you an additional $100 per month.

And there you have it, we’ve saved that $300 you wanted for your online business. Of course, you don’t HAVE to use the savings on your business. After all the scrimping, saving, and sacrificing that you’ve been doing over the past month, maybe you can celebrate with a night on the town. But don’t spend over $300.

So you’ve been looking at that huge flat screen TV, but it doesn’t fit into your budget. And unfortunately, your credit cards are maxxed out. It looks like the flat screen is another item to add to that growing wish list that will never happen.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. With careful planning, you can easily save enough money to get that flat screen, vacation, or even that new car you’ve been drooling over. It ‘s just a matter of priorities. All of us spend money on small frivolous items that we can really do without. If you take all of your little impulse purchases, it can add up to a substantial amount at the end of a year.

Take that coffee you buy every morning on the way to work. Along with the occasional bagel, it amount to about $2.50 per day. It doesn’t sound like very much money and you can easily afford it, so what’s the problem? The problem is this; if you bring in a coffee from home, you can save that $2.50 expense. Over the course of a year, you will save about $360 from this little change.

Have you considered refinancing your mortgage? Interest rates are currently at historic lows. If your existing mortgage rate is significantly higher, you could save $200 to $300 a month by refinancing. (Of course, you should consult with a professional before making a decision like this.) If refinancing is right for you, you could easily save $2400 per year.

Food is another area where you can save money. Never go shopping without making a list beforehand and only buy items on your list. This will eliminate those impulse purchases that can really put a dent in your budget. Use store brands and generics instead of the name brands. Use coupons and look for stores that offer to double (or triple) them. By making just a few of these changes, you can easily shave 15% off your food budget. Your annual savings could easily add up to $800 a year.

The few savings listed above add up to over $3500 a year. You would have more than enough to get that flat screen TV. You might even have enough left over to order a high definition pay per view movie.

Get Extra Money Without Doing Extra Work

Many families are finding that their expenses are rising annually but their salaries are not. This puts a significant burden on the family budget. To make matters worse, many people spend more than they make. And these two things combined can strain a family budget to the breaking point.

There are two things that you can do to remedy the problem:

1. You can go out and find another job.
2. You can reduce your monthly expenses.
3. You can ask for more money from the family trust fund.
Unfortunately, number three is out for most of us, so we will focus on numbers 1 and 2. In many families, time is already at a premium and another job is out of the question. That leaves us with number two, reducing expenses.

Although you may not realize it, there are many ways to reduce monthly expenses. In fact, in my new ebook, I go one step further, I don’t show you how to reduce expenditures, I show you how to SLASH them! Following are a few examples of how you might free up some extra money and loosen that choke hold your finances have on you.

Let’s start out by talking about your credit cards. This is probably what got you into trouble in the first place. Leave your credit cards at home! If you don’t have them with you, you won’t be tempted to use them. You will only be purchasing items that you can afford to buy with cash.

Food is an area where you can save a bunch of money. Do you know how much you spend on food outside the home? On average, families spend about $2,400 on restaurant food each year according to the Consumer Expenditure Survey from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. A large part of this amount is spent for meals during work or school. You can trim a substantial portion of this amount from your budget if you invest in brown bags and lunch meat (or my personal favorite; peanut butter and bananas). That represents a savings of almost $200 each month!

With the economy in the crapper, interest rates are near all time lows. Check the rate that you are paying on your existing mortgage. If your existing rate is more than 1% higher than the current mortgage rate, consider refinancing. This is a very easy way to lighten the family budget. It can easily save you $100 to $300 per month.

Wow! In a few short paragraphs, I’ve saved you almost $500. I think that’s quite enough for one article. Just imagine how much I can save you in the full ebook! Slash Expenses and get your financial life back in order. Check out my newest ebook for details on how to put money in your pocket (without resorting to another job or the trust fund)!

How To Save $500 On Your Monthly Budget

Most families spend about 10% more than they make each year. And unfortunately, many of those families are experiencing some degree of financial problems. Your first line of defense against financial troubles is to reduce your expenses. If you are having a difficult time making ends meet, try these tactics below to free up some money from the family budget.

Start out by leaving your credit cards at home. Use them only for emergencies. (And no, needing a new purse is not considered an emergency.) This one tactic can reduce expenses considerably.

How often to you go to restaurants for either lunch or dinner? According to the Consumer Expenditure Survey from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, families spend over $2400 per year on food away from home. Much of this is spent for lunches while working or at school. You can save a large chunk of this by packing a lunch every day. Would it help you to have an additional $200 per month? This one technique can put that much in your pocket!

Check the interest rate that you are paying on your mortgage. This is an area that most people overlook. As a rough rule of thumb, if current rates are more than 1% below your existing rate, you might benefit by refinancing your mortgage. This could put an additional $100 to $300 in your hands each month.

How about groceries? There are several areas where you can save here. Never go shopping without a list and stick to your list religiously. Buy store brands and generics as opposed to the name brands. Use coupons! Stay away from the convenience and prepared foods. You will almost always save money by making it yourself from scratch. Give up soda and bottled water, tap water is still safe to drink in most places. These grocery strategies can easily save you an additional $100 per month.

You see, that wasn’t so hard. In just five short paragraphs, I’ve saved you $500! Just imagine how much I could save you in a full length book!

How To Spend Less And Keep More Of What You Make

Many people are hooked on the drug called shopping. In fact, most people spend about 10% more than they earn regardless of their income. This excess spending is financed primarily through credit cards. This runaway spending leads to a very tight budget as credit card payments increase. And a tight budget can lead to stress and other physical problems.

It is easy to say that you should reduce your spending, but once you are hooked on the shopping drug, it is a hard habit to break. So what is the best way to break this cycle? Following are a few tips to help to help you get your financial life back in order.

1. You should begin by keeping track of all expenses. Carry a small notebook around with you and make a note of everything you buy. Most people are surprised at the amount of money that they spend on little unnecessary items that they really don’t need.

2. Leave your credit cards at home. If you don’t have them with you, you won’t be tempted to use them.

3. Limit the amount of cash that you carry. You don’t need to carry around a lot of cash. If you don’t have any intentions of shopping, carry only the cash that you need. That includes parking, tolls, gas, and a small amount for emergencies.

5. No more impulse buying. Before you leave your house, make a list of items that you intend to purchase while you are out. If an item is not on the list, you cannot buy it.

6. Cancel any credit cards that you do not use on a regular basis. You know, like the credit cards that are for stores located 50 miles away that you haven’t used in 3 months. If you haven’t used it in three months, you probably don’t need it. So get rid of it and you’ll have one less temptation.

Just implementing these 6 easy steps can go a long way in helping you to get your spending habits under control. If you are stressed because of uncontrollable spending, slash your expenses and get your financial life back in order. You CAN Get Your Financial Life Back In Order!

As the economy weakens, many people teeter on the edge of financial ruin. They may have lost a job, had a reduction in their income, or experienced a set back due to medical problems. Whatever the reason, this can be a very stressful and depressing situation. But it doesn’t have to be like this. You have some options.

Many experts advise you to pay down your debt. It’s easy to say if you are making lots of money but many people are living paycheck-to-paycheck. Hey are on the very edge of financial doom. They are just one month away from the poorhouse. So what can you do about this worrisome situation?

The first thing that you can do is look carefully at your expenses. Many people spend every penny that they bring home each month. In fact, research indicates that most people spend about 10% more than they make. In order to get your financial life in order, you’ve got to change this situation.

Of course you’ve got to pay down your debt, but before you do this, you will need to slash your expenses. Only by aggressively slashing your expenses can you get your spending down to a manageable level. This reduced spending will put extra money in your pocket. And you can use this extra money to relieve your financial burden.

If you think that you are living on a tight budget already, you are probably wrong. In my 22 years of financial experience, most people spend about 20% more money than they think. They forget about that coffee and bagel they get each morning. They don’t include that soda each afternoon. These may seem like trivial expenses, but over time, they really add up.

So, if you are stressed and depressed because of your financial situation, things are probably not as bad as you think. You have some alternatives.

Are you stressed because of your financial situation? Slash Expenses and get your financial life back in order. Check out my newest ebook for the details on how to slash expenses and put money in your pocket!

Put Money In Your Pocket By Cutting Personal Expenses

Everyone has personal expenses. But the fact of the matter is; most people spend much more money than they realize. If you ask someone to make a detailed list of their monthly expenses, they will tell that they spend about 30% less than they actually do. This unknown spending can make a significant dent in your budget.

Many of these little forgotten expenses are making it difficult for some people to make ends meet. So what can you do to reduce your expenses? Slash your expenses and change your spending habits. You would be surprised at the amount of money you can save by making a few small changes in your spending habits.

Never go on a shopping trip without having a list. Even if you only need three or four items, make a list and stick to it. Stores know that most people are prone to buying impulse items and will set up their store to take advantage of this. Don’t fall for that money-sucking trap. Only buy items on your list. If you see something that you really like, pass on it during that trip and think about it when you get home. In most cases, tat impulse purchase will not look so enticing after you’ve thought about it for a while.

Never go grocery shopping when you are hungry. A hungry shopper will almost always buy more than someone with a full stomach. And again, if you have followed the advice in the previous paragraph and have a list, you will spend considerably less.

Always use coupons, particularly at the grocery store. Using coupons, you can easily and consistently save about 10% on your grocery bill. Over the course of a year, this can amount to a great deal of money. Develop a file system for your coupons. And most importantly, only buy items that you need now. Don’t buy an item that you might use in 6 months just because you have a coupon today.

Are you are tired of living paycheck to paycheck with no cash to spare? Check out my newest ebook for the details on how to slash expenses and put money in your pocket!
