Many people ask me how article writing can be used to start a successful online business. One of the easiest ways to get started is to write list type articles. 1. Your article should include 250 to 500 words. This size article has been found to be most successful.

2. Write it as you would say it. Don’t try to impress your audience with big fancy words. You are not going to be graded on your vocabulary skills. People appreciate an easy conversational tone to the articles they read. Keep it simple.

3. Break you article up into a number of different paragraphs and separate each one with a space. This makes it more pleasing visually and is easier on the reader’s eyes.

5. Include 5 to 10 facts in each article you write. Separate each fact into it’s own paragraph.

6. In the final paragraph, synopsize the information and tell the reader how they will benefit by using the information in the article.

7. Write often! The more articles you write, the more successful you will become. Try writing 3 articles a day and you will be surprised at how quickly you can develop a successful online business.

If you intend to start a successful long term online business, you should focus on getting traffic for at least the first six months. Diversify your traffic building techniques so you are not dependant on any one source. Submit your site to as many search engines and directories as possible. Use article marketing, classified ads, solo ads, and ezine ads. Place threads and replies on numerous related forums using links back to your website in your signature file. Comment on as many related blogs as possible and again, include a link to your site within each comment.

Over time, these techniques will bring you more and more traffic. And just as you diversified your traffic building techniques, you should diversify the methods you use to monetize your site. Of course, you should have a sign in box on every page of your website. This will quickly increase the size of your list, which is important for your long term success.

In addition, you should include ads that pay you each time someone clicks on them. Adsense is an example of this type of ad, but there are many other companies that provide similar services. You should also use ads for affiliate programs to monetize your site. Using an affiliate program, your only job is to refer visitors to the merchant’s website. When one of your referrals makes a purchase, you collect a percentage of the sale proceeds. The percentage you receive varies between 20% and 75% of the sale amount and is determined by the merchant.

And last but not least, you should have plenty of quality content on your site that you refresh regularly. Join two affiliate programs, I recommend Clickbank and Commission Junction. These companies allow you to promote their products on your site. Each time someone makes a purchase, you get a percentage of the sale price. Commissions vary between 20% and 75% depending on the product.

The next three steps are the same: market, market, market. To have a successful blog you must promote it. Otherwise, no one will know that your blog exists. You can promote it by writing articles and submitting them to the largest article submission directories. I do this myself and it works very well.

Register with the large forums and comment on at least 8 posts per day. It is important that you say something worthwhile in your comments. Don’t just say, ‘nice post.’ That won’t help you at all. In each of your comments, include a signature file that links to your blog.

Once you set up your site, you need to start adding content. You can add content for free by writing articles. Each article should be between 300 and 500 words in length and all of them should be based on one particular subject. This is called your niche. By focusing all of your content on one topic, you will attract more people than if your site contains a mix of many different subjects.

After you have added 20 to 30 articles, you should begin to include some money making items on your site. You can begin by including some advertising. Google’s Adsense program is an excellent way to start. It is easy to register and once you upload the ad code, Google takes care of the rest. You only need to cash the checks.

Then research some good affiliate products that are related to your niche. ClickBank, Commission Junction, and ShareaSale are three good places to find good products. The last thing that you need to do is develop traffic. Traffic is the life blood of any Internet business. Begin by writing articles and submitting them to the largest article submission directories. In each article you write, include a link to your site in the author’s resource box. The only disadvantage to this method of traffic generation is the fact that you need to do it on a consistent basis. One article a week will not work. Try to submit at least one article a day.

You should also find forums that are related to your niche. Register with at least four or five of them and post eight comments a day in each one. Make sure your comments have substance. Saying, ‘Great post,’ will not work. Provide good insightful information in your comments and include a link to your site in every entry you make. You can do this in your signature file.

Using these techniques, you can start a successful online business and begin to make money in just a few months. And the best part, you’ve done it at no expense to you. The amount of money you make will depend on the amount of traffic that you can generate. More traffic equals more income. So, get busy!
