I recommend that people use free techniques if you are just starting an online business. Too many people spend their last dollar on buying a domain, setting up a paid autoresponder, and arranging for paid web hosting only to find out that an online business is not for them. A better solution is to begin using free tools and switch over to paid services once you begin to see some success.
The first thing you need to arrange is a place to host your site. I have found that most beginners are better off using a free blog to start out. Using a blog, you do not need to know any specialized computer languages like html. Entering content to a blog is as easy as using a word processor.
1. Start out by registering for a blog at the WordPress dot com. It is free and very easy to do. You also get loads of features: they offer dozens of attractive templates and allow you to provide information, articles, photos and videos on your site. It is an all in one solution that is absolutely free.
2. When you first enter the WordPress site, click on sign-in. Then create a user name. This will become part of the name of your blog so put some real thought into it. Make sure it is relevant to the subject of your blog. Next fill in the information they request, your email address, and agree to the legal stuff.
3. Click on ‘Gimme A Blog!' WordPress will do all the work to create your blog. You can then proceed to the next page.
4. On the next page you will see your domain name. It will consist of yourblogname dot WordPress dot com. If this is your first site, copy the URL into note pad and save it in a file in your computer so you won’t forget it. This domain name is how you, the search engines, and your visitors will access your blog.
5. Consider a related title for your blog. This title will appear in the header on every page, so choose it carefully.
6. Relax and pat yourself on the back, you have just completed setting up your first money making website.
7. After you have completed the details in your activation email from WordPress, you can begin blogging (and making some money). And the best part: It didn’t cost you a dime!

How To Get Your Own Website For Free
Do you have a great idea for an online business but don’t have the cash to get started? Don’t worry, it is quite easy to make your own website for free, even if you have little or no experience.
Start out by doing a search for ‘free web hosting.’ There are many web hosts that will allow you to maintain your website with them and never charge you a penny. However, no one works for free. To make money, these sites will place ads on your website. But this is usually not a problem; most hosts usually place just one or two ads. And, if you are looking to have a site hosted for free, it is a small price to pay.
After you have selected a host, consider what name you want for your website. This is a very important step; give it a lot of thought. The name you choose should be related to the main theme of your site. All of the products or services that you promote will be connected to this theme in some way. The name of your website will be www.YourWebsiteName.YourHostsName.com.
Now you are ready to design your site. If you have some knowledge of html, you can go ahead and design it yourself. But there are plenty of options for those who have no experience. Your web host may offer free website design templates that you can use (most of them do). They are very easy to use so you should try that method first. As an alternative, there are many sites that offer free website templates that you can download and use for free. Do a search for ‘free website templates’ and you will find pages and pages of them.
You have a great website name, a free host and a free site that looks great. All you need to do now is put your great idea into action and you are on your way to fame and fortune. Good luck!

Starting Your Internet Business - Free vs Paid Services
When you are just starting your Internet business and you have no experience, you want to keep your expenses down. This gives you an opportunity to explore the business without spending much money. For that reason alone, it is a very good idea. Let’s face it, some people are not equipped to operate a website. As in any business, some people are better at it than others. So, if you can try out an Internet business for free, you should probably do so.
Almost everything you need for your Internet business can be obtained for free. Do you need a free payment processor for your website? PayPal, along with a number of other companies, can handle that quite nicely. How about a free autoresponder? A search will provide many alternatives for you. What about traffic, is it available for free? It sure is, writing articles, visiting forums, placing free classified ads, and posting to your blog are all free methods to generate traffic. By doing a search, you can find many more ways to get free traffic, but you’ve probably got to put some effort into it, and it won’t happen quickly. But, it is free.
The final item that is required to operate an Internet business is a website. Are there any websites that are available for free? You bet! Doing a search for free websites will bring up hundreds of possibilities.
And that brings us to the point of this article. Is there any advantage of using a paid webhost versus a free one? That depends on the type of website you need. If you are just using your website as a photo gallery so Aunt Mary can view a few pictures of the new baby, you’re probably fine with the free version. However, if you have a commercial website and you are trying to make money, paid webhosting is something you will want to explore as soon as you can afford it.
In addition to the fact that free websites load more slowly, free sites contain ads that are embedded on your site by the host. You make no money from these ads, the company hosting your site profits from these. Sometimes they can be very distracting to your visitors, especially if they use numerous pop-up ads.
Another big disadvantage to using free websites is the limited amount of bandwidth allowed. Each time a visitor comes to your site and downloads something; they are using some of your bandwidth. Free websites provide you with a very limited amount of bandwidth each month. If you have used your monthly allowance of bandwidth, visitors to your site will see a message that says, ‘Website Closed – Exceeds allocated Bandwidth’. This is not acceptable if you have a commercial website. If you see this happening to your website, you need to investigate paid webhosting. Most paid hosting solutions will allow you to have many times the bandwidth available versus your free website. And the cost is quite reasonable, you can have your website hosted for as little as five to ten dollars per month.
As you can see, it is possible to start an Internet business with little or no money. However, if you are operating a commercial site in order to make money, you should switch over to paid services as soon as your budget permits. In almost every case, the paid service is far superior to the free alternative.
