Internet Marketing Tactics to Climb That Ladder of Success

There is no trick in marketing your product or business on the Internet. It is work, just like any other job. If you want to be successful, there are certain things (pronounced jobs) that you’ve got to do. Granted, there are many ways to do it, but they all involve some effort on your part.

Write Articles

I enjoy writing articles to market my sites and products. But, just because I enjoy it, doesn’t mean that it is not work. I’m just fortunate that I enjoy that part of my job.

I write at least one article every day, seven days a week. If you want to be successful writing articles, you’ve got to write that many, or more. Each article consists of about 500 words and it takes me 30 to 40 minutes to write each one. Some of my articles attract more readers than others. My most successful articles can draw almost 1000 readers over the course of a month (and that’s just in one ezine that I track). These are the ones that I live for. Each of these super articles entices hundreds of people to visit my visit my sites each month. I wish all of my articles could achieve that kind of success.

Most of my articles attract one to two hundred viewers per month (again, at the one ezine I track). And that kind of performance is okay too. Each article I write brings people to my site and that is my goal in writing articles.

Forums

Visit forums related to your niche and keep your eyes open. Look for, and answer, questions that are related to your particular area of expertise. If you do this frequently, you will soon be regarded as an expert in this area. Each time you post an answer, make sure your signature includes an enticing advertisement for your website (or product). This is the main reason that you visit these sites. Your posts will remain visible on the forum for some time. If you post frequently, it can provide you with an excellent source of visitors to your website.

Offer a freebie

Make sure you offer something free to your website visitors if they subscribe to your list. Everybody likes free stuff. It is important to give people an incentive to provide you with their name and email address. As people join your list, you will email them with information, free offers, and information through your autoresponder. A growing list and an autoresponder are also keys to your Internet marketing success.

If you make the routines above part of your daily job, you will be successful. However, patience is required, it takes time to develop almost any business. And, like with any job, you’ve just got to do it. Do your job every day and you will slowly but surely, climb that ladder of success.

Good Free Resources

I recently wrote an article designed to provide information to people who were new to Internet marketing. It was titled, “30 Marketing Facts for the Article Marketing Newbie.” Shortly after the article was posted, someone emailed me saying that they did not appreciate being called a newbie. Wow, some people are soooo sensitive.

I have two nephews that play Runescape on the Internet. It is a game where players interact with each other by buying, selling, acquiring items, and fighting monsters. They tell me that “newbie” or “noob” is considered a derogatory term on that site. Of course it is a game played mostly by the younger generation and profanity is not permitted.

Newbie is not a derogatory term. It is a term that is commonly used on the Internet that refers to someone that is “new” to the business. If you’ve been involved in your Internet business for less than six months, you are probably a newbie. There’s nothing wrong with that, everyone’s got to start somewhere.

I remember when I first ventured into the business. As I wasn’t a techie (knowledgeable in technical computer matters), it all seemed a little overwhelming at first. I didn’t know an SEO from a MLM and I thought a JV was a junior varsity something or other. (It is a joint venture.) But in time I learned some of the jargon and you will too.

However, if you are a newbie, don’t despair. Although many sites offer info for the newbie at a price, there are sites that you can visit that offer help for free. One such site is Joe Robson's "The Newbie Club" (http://www.newbieclub.com/). The Newbie Club provides free ebooks, free tutorials, free ecourses, a free guest book for your website, free autoresponders, and best of all, free membership. This is a great place to go if you are relatively new to the business and need information relating to the Internet or computers.

Another great resource for information is on the article marketing sites. Of course, I’m probably preaching to the choir on this because that’s how you found this article. But you can find information on almost any topic imaginable by searching among their article database. Truly amazing and all for free.

One final method I suggest for information is through forums. A forum is basically a place where you can go to ask questions and have them answered. The easiest way to get started is to browse through the questions that have been asked previously. Frequently this will provide you with the information you need. If you don’t find your answers there, post your own question.

So, remember, newbie is not a derogatory term. And, if you are a newbie, good luck in your new endeavor!

How to Build a Super Successful Internet Business

Many people struggle financially online. But, with a little hard work and perseverance, you can build a super successful Internet business.

How is this possible? Developing and creating your own product is one of the primary keys to real success in the Internet marketing business. All of the super successful marketers insist that you need your own product. I’ve read many articles that told of marketers who struggled financially until they finally developed their own product.

Why is it so important to have your own product? You are not at the mercy of some unknown merchant. You determine the price for your products. You can set up a system so that you do not have to wait several weeks to get your checks.

However, the number one reason that you should develop you own product is that you can build your own affiliate network. That is the number one key to success! It is how almost all of the super successful Internet marketers became successful.

In fact, recruiting others to sell a product is how most ultra successful businesses operate, regardless of their field (or niche). Toyota doesn’t sell their cars one at a time to individual buyers; they have a legion of independent dealerships that sell for them. Exxon doesn’t sell gasoline to the buying public, they leave that to thousands of independent gas stations.

Those selling for Toyota, Exxon, and others represent their affiliate network. These mega-companies get thousands of others to sell their product and keep a percentage of each sale for themselves. By doing this, they have amassed huge fortunes amounting to billions of dollars.

I’m not saying that you will earn billions with your affiliate program. But, if your Internet business is struggling, an affiliate program is something you should consider. It could make the difference between just getting by and making a very nice living.

But before you can establish an affiliate program, you need your own product. Developing an ebook is an excellent product to start with. Ebooks are well received by the public, they sell very well, depending of course on the subject matter, and they are fairly easy to put together.

Using an affiliate network to sell your product is fastest way to achieve success. So get busy. Spend sometime on developing your own product.

Then, in a year or two, when you send out a newsletter to your army of affiliates, you can refer to that time long ago, when you too struggled financially…

30 Facts for the Article Marketing Newbie

In the course of my research on article writing, I take lots of notes and enter them into a file. I have pages and pages of facts relating to article marketing. Unfortunately, I rarely note the source of these facts. So, I apologize for not giving proper credit to the original sources. However, I thought this list might be quite helpful to those who are new to article writing. And, I’ve sprinkled in a fact or two to amuse the veteran writer.

Be timeless with your articles; write articles that will still be relevant in a year.
Learn enough to become the expert in your field.
Write short, interesting articles of about 400-700 words. They didn’t come to read a novel!
More people read articles on weekdays. (I guess this says a lot about our work ethic!)
Fewer articles are submitted on weekends.

Write about only one thing, in ever-deepening detail, so you become an acknowledged expert in your field.
Educate your readers.
After your 300th article, business may be pretty good, but you still won’t be making a livable wage.
When writing an article, always keep your reader in mind.
Write an attention grabbing title that compels the viewer to read further.

Always offer a free report of some kind.
Your long-term success depends upon the quality and quantity of your list.
Use high-ranking keywords in your title as well as your article.
By 2006, there were about 2 billion websites on the Internet.
The Internet is the television of future.

Article marketing is here to stay (hopefully).
Your title has to jump out and grab them.
For each article you write, design a targeted resource box.
Longer titles trend to attract more page views.
Having a website will make doing business much easier.

When you begin to bring in some money, reinvest a portion of the proceeds back into your business.
You can make much, much more money by selling your own products.
Create your own product as soon as possible.
Buy a Domain name, get an autoresponder, and upgrade your web hosting as soon as possible.
The use of pre-sale pages will increase your sales dramatically.

‘How to’ articles are always very popular.
More links are not necessarily better.
Great articles have great titles that attract readers.
Always use software to check your spelling and grammar.
Design a separate resource box for each article you write.

If you are new to writing articles, I recommend that you create a file for random facts like I have compiled here. On those days when I’m suffering from writer’s block, my file on article facts will always come to my rescue. Even if it’s a silly article like this one with no common theme. Sorry about that.

Designing Ads that Make You Money

One of the most effective methods of generating traffic and ultimately sales, is through the use of advertising. However, how do you design ads that that make you money and entice viewers to click on your links?

First and foremost, develop a compelling headline. In only 50 characters, you must describe your product or service in a way that draws in your readers. If they lose interest here, you’ve wasted your money and lost that prospect forever. Include descriptive targeted keywords and terms that your customers might be searching for. Avoid abbreviations, not every who sees your ad is familiar with your industry jargon.

Write a good description in the body of your ad. You have a limited amount of space, just three to five lines containing 60 characters each. Sell your business. Include only the most compelling points; don’t try to cover every detail. Describe what makes your company, product, or service special. If your product is better, mention it. If your prices are the lowest in the industry, highlight it. If your great-grandfather started the business, forget about it. Again, only include details that would entice your customer to act on your ad. Do not repeat the headline in the ad description. Avoid using industry buzzwords; keep it simple enough so that everyone can understand it.

Keep your text professional. This is your first contact with these prospects and you want to make a good impression. Don’t try to be funny or clever in your ad, some people won’t get it. Include only the information that you know customers are searching for, anything else is a waste of your advertising dollars.

Make sure your ad content is relevant. If you are offering a free promotional item, make sure it is easily accessible when people visit your site. Nothing is more frustrating than to go to a site for a free item and not being able to find it. This is a sure way to turn prospects away.

Make sure you do a spelling and grammar check on your work before submitting it. Misspellings and grammatical errors are the kiss of death. In addition, do a very slow and careful proofreading. Your spelling checker will tell you that the word “kite” is spelled correctly, even though you intended to write the word “kit”.

Track and test your results. Recording the performance of each ad can greatly enhance the return on your advertising dollars. It can tell you which websites (or publications) are working best for you. This is extremely important and enables you to stop wasting advertising money on sites that are not generating prospects. It can also alert you to problems in the wording of your ads.

Using a well-designed ad can provide you with great results. But a poorly designed one can cost you customers, money, and possibly your business. May all your ads be great ones.

Make Money With Revenue Sharing Sites

I write and submit articles everyday. It’s a situation that works well for me. I enjoy writing, it brings traffic to my sites, and it makes me money. If you are like me and submit articles on a regular basis, why not submit your articles to sites that share some of the revenue that they are making.

Most article submission sites work this way:

You work hard writing your article.
You spend your valuable time submitting that article to numerous sites.
Their computer posts your article after it is automatically loaded up with ads.
Visitors read your articles and click on the ads they contain.
The submission site makes ALL of the money.

Why should the submission site make all of the money? After all, you are the one who worked hard writing the article. You are the one who spent your valuable time submitting it. Why shouldn’t you make some of the money?

I don’t really mind that these sites make all of the money; after all, it is a business. But some of these sites act like they’re doing me a favor by posting my article!

If you’re tired of doing all of the work and allowing someone else to make all of the money, check out some of the revenue sharing sites. They work a little differently, but basically, they place ads in your articles and as people click on those ads, they split the money that those clicks generate. Some sites give you 100% of the income, others give you 50%. Either way, it is better than nothing.

Following is a list of sites that share revenue with you:

Helium
Savvify
Hotwebtools
Articlewise
Oocuz
Senserely
Xomba

As long as you are writing and submitting articles anyway, why not submit to sites that are willing to put a little money in your pocket. To be honest, you are not going to retire by using the sites above, but you could make enough to buy the occasional lunch.

So, if you are tired of doing all of the work and making none of the money, add the revenue sharing sites above to the list that you submit your articles to and go out to lunch tomorrow.

Grow Your Business Using Joint Ventures

Starting an Internet business is much like a start-up in any other business. It is not easy. You’ve got to make arrangements for products you intend to sell, design a professional looking website, develop effective sales pages, advertise, attract traffic to your site, and entice visitors to click on your links and buy your products. All this takes time to develop. If you are looking to get rich overnight, buy a lottery ticket instead.

One effective way to generate business for your new online company is with the use of joint ventures. A joint venture (JV) is a business partnership between two or more parties to expand business for both parties. In an ideal joint venture, the talents of one partner make up for shortcomings in the other, and are beneficial to both companies. For example, if you have a great product but no list to sell to, team up with a partner that has a great list but no product. Of course, you should both be involved in the same niche, but not have products that compete directly with each other.

By using joint ventures, you can quickly build the size of your list as well as your income. Less than 5% of Internet businesses have used joint ventures.

There are several types of joint ventures. Two large businesses may use joint ventures to try and dominate a particular area of the market. They may also combine resources to generate a huge payday for both. For instance, if company A has a new product launch in 2 weeks and company B has a new product launch in 2 months, they might decide to market each others products for their mutual benefit.

Small companies might team up to build their reputations, increase the size of their subscriber list, or generate income. There are many types of joint ventures that you can enter into. In fact, you are only limited by your imagination.

Choose your partners carefully. Make sure your partner has a business mindset, attitude, and moral code similar to yours. Develop written goals for your partnership. Clearly define the responsibilities of each partner in writing. Many joint venture partnerships fail for this reason. Always be open and honest with your business proposals. Do not hype your business with facts that are not true.

With your initial joint ventures, team up with companies that are similar in size to your own. Send out press releases announcing your joint ventures. This publicity may entice larger companies to approach you with joint venture proposals.

Finally, joint ventures can only work if you pursue them. Send out joint venture proposals on a regular basis. Through persistence and hard work, your joint ventures can grow your Internet business nicely.

About Auto Responders

People ask me about auto-responders all of the time. My answer is always the same. To make serious money in the article marketing business, you absolutely need an auto-responder!

The top two in the industry are Aweber and GetResponse. I think you probably couldn't go wrong by choosing either one of those for your auto-responder needs. Before choosing one, I did a fair amount of research. Ultimately, I decided to go with Getresponse and have been very happy with them. Aweber and GetResponse are actually quite similar as far as features offered. GetResponse is somewhat cheaper. You can start out with their free version and then transfer to a paid subscription.

With GetResponse, you have the ability to set up an unlimited number of campaigns. This is ideal if you have websites in a number of different niches. You can set up different auto-responders for different sites. I also like their spam check system. This feature allows you to design your emails so that spam filters will not think they are receiving spam and send my emails to a bulk file.

I also investigated the autoresponders that reside on your own computer. It is nice in that it gives you complete control over the entire process. These auto-responders were significantly cheaper (some of them were free). However, I decided against it after investigating the laws governing spam. There are some very strict laws in effect regarding spam that carry significant penalties. GetResponse's procedures keep me out of trouble in that regard and that was very important to me.

GetResponse currently allows unlimited follow-up messages. As time goes on, you will come to realize that is a very important feature. It also provides 19 alternative domain names to receive messages.
It has a spam-check feature to avoid detection by other ISP's spam filters, and provides a list builder service to help you build your opt-in list (at a cost).

The current price starts at $17.95 per month for a basic account, with a refund period of 30 days. You can get it even cheaper if you sign up for a longer period. Another great feature is the fact that they provide toll-free phone support. Phone support is very important in the event that your computer (or theirs) goes down.

If you are looking for an autoresponder, I can recommend GetResponse very highly.

What it Takes to Operate a Successful Internet Business

Have you ever heard of the 80-20 rule? It is a ratio that is quite common in business, particularly in sales. There are many applications of this ratio:

1) 80% of your business will come from the top 20% of your clients.

2) 80% of a business’s sales will be generated by the top 20% of its sales people.

3) 80% of all business ventures will fail. Only 20% will succeed.

In this article, I will focus on item #3 above, specifically, why do only 20% of the Internet Marketing businesses succeed? It might be easier to ask why 80% of these businesses fail? Most people fail for one or more of the following reasons:

They fail to gain the knowledge of what is needed to operate a profitable business.

Although they are aware of what needs to be done, they fail to do the necessary work.

They get bored with it and stop working completely or only work sporadically.

Because they want immediate results and aren’t seeing them, they quit working just before their efforts begin to pay off.

Of course, there are many more reasons why businesses fail, but we cannot develop a complete list in an article this size. However, these are some of the main reasons. To avoid failure in your business and be among the 20% that succeed, follow a few basic steps for success:

Acquire the knowledge necessary to operate a successful business. That includes reading how to’s, buying ebooks, talking to experienced entrepreneurs, etc. Do whatever is necessary to learn how to operate a successful business and then do it!

Almost all successful businesses require that certain jobs be performed on a daily basis (at least in the beginning). Develop a daily plan of action and commit the time to complete those required tasks.

Very few jobs are fun and even fewer are exciting. Do the necessary work on a daily basis, even if it is dull and boring. Putting up with a little boredom now can pay you big dividends in the future.

Don’t expect instant gratification if you are starting your own business. Any worthwhile business is going to require a good deal of care, a great deal of time, and an incredible amount of work. Give your business plenty of all three and it may provide you with a lifetime of benefits worth ten times your efforts.

You need a product for real success.

Initiating a Joint Venture

A joint venture is a mutually beneficial arrangement between two or more businesses or individuals. It is easily explained with an example.

Imagine that you just completed a great product on knitting patterns and techniques. You have a great product, but no list or subscriber base to recommend it to. After doing some research, you contact Jill’s Knitting supply Company. She has a large customer base and has been in business for five years. You contact Jill via email or phone and propose a joint venture. She will send your product information to her list and you and Jill will split the resulting profits.

It’s a win-win situation and everybody benefits. You and Jill will each make some money and Jill’s subscribers will get access to a great product. Of course, there are some details along the way:

You need to have a good sales page.

You need to have a process in place where buyers can download your product.

You need to know the conversion rate of visitors to sales. That is, out of 100 people that visit your sales page, on average, how many of them buy your product. This figure is important because potential joint partners will want to know this information before they commit to do business with you. If you just developed your product and do not have this information, make sure that your potential joint venture partner is aware of that fact. While it is true, you may find it more difficult to find a partner under these circumstances, you must have an honest and open relationship with all of your business associates. By fudging the facts just one time, you could destroy your reputation and ruin any future business opportunities.

When you decide to do your first joint venture, you need to do a little research. Learn about the business and person you are considering doing a joint venture with. How long have they been in business and how long have they been marketing to your niche? Is their website brand new or have they been around for a while? Do you feel comfortable with them? Would your product benefit their customers?

After completing your research, it is time to contact them with your proposal. Tell them about yourself, your product, how it is converting, and how it might benefit their customers. Offer to send them a copy of your product. Be professional and do not try to hype your product or say that it will make them rich. Be absolutely honest and up-front. If they pass on the opportunity, do not be discouraged, move on and get started on your next proposal.

Profiting on the Internet

Are you making money on the Internet? Many sites never make a penny while others prosper like wild fire. Which category does your site fall into? There are numerous reasons why some sites fail to make any real money on the Internet. We’ll cover a few of the major reasons in this article. Follow the techniques below and begin profiting on the Internet.

Make sure your website is targeted to one specific area. Too many sites cover a little of this and a little of that. Choose just one subject and build your site around that theme. By doing this, you will get a growing list of interested, repeat visitors.

Provide free content on your site. Add additional information frequently and change it often. Make visitors aware that your offerings change on a regular basis. If you can give visitors information that they find valuable and useful, they will come back often and, more importantly, they will tell others. Word of mouth advertising is the absolute best kind.

Entice people to link to your web site by giving them something free in return. This will increase your ranking in some search engines.

Use several marketing methods to bring people to your site. Unless you are wildly successful, do not use just one method to advertise, use several. I write articles, lots of them, and that technique works for me. The resource boxes in my articles bring people to my site every day. In addition, consider using free ads, ezine ads, solo ads, email, and forums as advertising sources.

Consider placing some ads on your site. It probably won’t make you rich right away, but every little bit helps.

Invest a percentage of your profits back into your business. Spend it on marketing, a domain name, advertising, etc. By reinvesting a portion of your profits back into your business, you increase the odds that you will make more money next month (and the month after that).

Make sure you have a sign-in box to collect the names and email address of your visitors. It is important to build a list. The consistent, long term money is made through your list. A good list can double the amount of income that you generate over time. Add a pop-up sign-in box on every page of your website. It will increase your sign-in numbers substantially.

Use the techniques above to begin making some money and profiting on the Internet. As you begin to make money, you’ll be more attentive to your site and this may help you make more money each month.

10 Steps to Achieve Internet Success

Earning money on the Internet is a lot more challenging today than it was a few years ago. The most efficient method of generating sales has always been to develop a large list of clients/subscribers and sell to the list. Make it worth their while to join your list, contact them often, take care of them, and offer them quality products that meet their needs when appropriate. If you started your Internet business five years ago, you probably built up a large list of subscribers rather quickly. Today it takes considerably longer to develop a list of any size.

There are a number of reasons for this. Number one among them is competition. There are over 2 billion websites in existence now and a large percentage of them are trying to sell the same products that you are selling. With so many sellers crowding the marketplace, the pie is a bit smaller for each of us.

I hear many experts recommending that you should sell the product with the highest commission. I disagree. You should sell the product that does the best job for your subscribers, regardless of the commission. By offering the highest quality products, your subscribers will know that you recommend only the finest products and will remain on your list for a very long time. In general, the longer they remain with you, the more they will buy. If you repeatedly offer them high priced crap, they will quickly unsubscribe. My attitude has always been, I’ll take care of my subscribers and the commissions will take care of themselves.

The price of the item you are selling is also a factor. If you sell a ten-dollar item, you might generate fifty sales for each one thousand people that view your product. If you are selling a five hundred dollar item you might generate just one or two sales per one thousand page views. This is also something you should consider if you are deciding on which affiliate products to sell.

In any business, there are a few individuals that excel to super star levels and make millions upon millions of dollars. And likewise, there are some who struggle for years and make little if any money at all. The rest of us are somewhere in the middle ground between the two. Regardless of what business you are in, you should try to emulate the super stars. Try to do what they do. I’m not saying that you will immediately vault up to super star status, but your results will almost certainly improve.

Some of the characteristics of the Internet super stars are as follows:

1) They keep meticulous records. They track all results and do more of the stuff that is working and eliminate the stuff that isn’t. It’s important to know what you are doing right.

2) They are not afraid to spend money and reinvest a portion of their profits back into their business. They have no problem buying advertising, domain names, good hosting, software, and information. You’ve got to spend money in order to make it.

3) They are diversified and participate in more than one niche. If an opportunity presents itself, they can swiftly change gears and exploit an additional area.

4) They pay talented people to take care of the details on their numerous websites. They pay others to take care of the more mundane day-to-day issues. This frees up their time to work on items that they believe to be more important, like developing new products.

5) They stay in constant touch with the people on their list. They act as a trusted adviser who wouldn’t steer subscribers wrong. They do not pitch every new product that comes down the pike.

6) They nurture their list; it is their most valuable asset. They work daily on activities to continually expand it.

7) They develop and sell their own products. When appropriate, they allow others to sell them on an affiliate basis.

8) They take advantage of every possible method in monetizing the Internet and their websites. They use all types of advertising and any other sources available.

9) They continually work to build traffic to their websites. Expanding traffic today equals a growing income tomorrow.

10) They work (or did work) long hard hours to get their websites and income to the current levels.

By working daily toward these goals, you too have an opportunity to grow your Internet business. For the most part, those who have achieved the most success have done it by working the hardest. So imitate the superstars and someday, people new in the business may try to imitate you.

There is, however, one over-riding theme among all Internet experts. The best way to achieve success on the Internet is to develop your own product. Most of the Internet Gurus make their Internet millions in this manner. When deciding on products to sell, copy the techniques of those who are most successful. Develop your own product. That way, no one is selling it but you and your affiliates, so you control the amount of competition. You make 100% of the profit on your sales along with a nice percentage on your affiliates’ sales. And, you can determine your own selling price. All in all, it is a very compelling proposition to develop your own product.

Not Making Money? Simple Techniques for Internet Profits

Are you making as much money as you expected on the Internet? Unfortunately, for most people, the answer is no. But, by making just a few changes, you can begin to turn that situation around and generate some cash.

The first question is, do you have a website? In most cases, it is easier to make money on the Internet if you have a website. Your money making prospects will improve dramatically with your own website. Purchasing your own domain name is best but, if you have absolutely NO cash to invest, there are a few alternatives.

Check with your ISP. Many of them offer free websites to their subscribers. Take advantage of this perk and set up your own site free of charge.

If your ISP does not offer a free site, do a search for free blogs. There are tons of free blogs available on the Internet. You can set up a blog and have it online in a matter of minutes. It is very easy to do. Once your blog is set up, sign up for a free account with Google Adsense and post ads on your site. This won’t make you rich (unless yours is the blog sensation of the year), but it will bring you a few dollars. After all, every little bit helps. In addition, sign up for a PayPal account and add a donation button. Using this button, people who like your blog can give you money. Several associates with popular blogs tell me that donations are among the highest revenue producers on their sites.

Another alternative is to use one of the download malls on the Internet. Sign up for free with one of these programs and they will give you a website that is all set up and ready to go. These sites provide digital products that visitors can purchase. You do not need to carry any inventory or send out products. They take care of everything for you. Your only job is to bring visitors to your site. Make sure that the program offers a tiered system. That is, when you refer someone into the program, you get a percentage of their sales. It is like developing your own affiliate program without any of the problems. You can get more information on one of these programs by using one of my links below, or by visiting my site.

With each of the methods described above, you need people to visit your site. You can do this using a variety of techniques. Personally, I write articles. Not just one or two, I submit articles everyday. Each article I write contains a resource box with two or three links to programs or products that I recommend. In addition, do a search for free ads. There are tons of them available. Submit as many free ads as you can find. Also, many ezines will allow you to place free advertising with them if you sign up as a subscriber. A search will provide you with plenty of ezines to choose from.

Lastly, I recommend that you develop your own product. This is the number one way to make money on the Internet. After developing my first product, my income soared by fifty fold. If you don’t have your own product, I suggest you commit some time to developing one. The results can be astounding.

As you begin to make money on the Internet, reinvest some of the income you are generating. Commit a portion of your profits back into your Internet business. Buy a domain name, set up an autoresponder, purchase advertising, buy information to improve your results, etc.

Perfecting Your Squeeze Page

You can make a lot of money on the Internet. Those who are the most successful make the bulk of their money from their lists. To be truly successful, you need a large (and growing) list. List building is one area where size really does matter, the bigger your list, the bigger your income. And the better your squeeze page, the faster your list will grow.

A squeeze page is web page where visitors sign in and subscribe to your list. The primary (first) link in all of my articles will point to my squeeze page.

With each article I write, I have two goals in mind. My primary goal is to entice readers to opt into my list. My second objective is to offer some sort of promotional sale item that viewers may be interested in buying. Granted, only a very small percentage of people will make a purchase after seeing a single article, but it is money just the same. Follow the guidelines below to build that perfect squeeze page and start generating those huge long-term profits.

Make sure your opt in box is ‘above the fold,’ that means, you will see this box without having to page up, page down, or otherwise use your mouse. Your opt in box should have a place of prominence on your page. I’ve heard some people say that they increased the conversion percentages substantially by moving their opt in box to the top. Although I must admit, I have not done that sort of research, so I can’t be certain about that.

There should never be any distractions on your squeeze page. No ads of any kind, no links, no nothing! Your one and only goal is to convince the reader to opt in. Do not give your visitors an opportunity to click on an item and leave your page.

Your long-term success depends upon the quality and quantity of your list. Don’t be afraid to tweak your squeeze page. Then, make sure you test the results to see which page performed better. Remember, the long-term money is in your list, and the size of your list is directly related to the quality of your squeeze page. The information in this article is taken from an excerpt of my ebook, Super Charge Your List, which is available at my website.

How to Increase Traffic and Generate Income With a Good Resource Box

If you read a lot of articles, you’ve probably noticed a box that includes a number of links at the end of each article. This is called the author’s biography, bio, or resource box. The links located in the resource box are the author’s payment for writing the article.

Different authors put different types of information in their resource boxes, depending on their goals. Some writers add their biographical information into this section. These authors are trying to build up their reputation in a particular field.

Many authors write articles to increase traffic to their website. In this case, they will add a link to their website’s sign-in (squeeze) page.

Others write articles to generate income. These writers add links to their own products or to affiliate products that they are recommending.

Some submission sites will allow an author to include up to three links in a resource box, and others will allow just one or two. Take full advantage of the resource box and place the maximum number of links that the site will allow.

With my articles, I always place the first link to my sign-in page. To be successful in the Internet marketing business, you need a large list of subscribers. By adding a link to my sign-in page in each of my articles, I am always increasing the size of my list. As the size of my list increases, so does my income.

My second link will usually be for one of my own products. To be successful in this business, you need your own product. You will make much more money selling your own product than selling someone else’s. If you don’t have your own product yet, you should definitely work toward that goal. All of the really successful Internet marketing people have their own products.

My third link will point toward another one of my products or an affiliate product that is related to the content of the article. If you can recommend a product that is related to your article, you will usually see a larger number of clicks from that link.

I never use html in my resource boxes, even if a site states that you can. The reason for this is simple. Some of the ezines that run your article from an RSS feed will publish in plain text only. In these cases, the hard work that you put into your resource box will look like a jumbled mess. For that reason, I use plain text in all of my resource boxes.

How Does Your Article Performance Compare With the Averages

I am frequently asked how many URL clicks or how many page views can be expected with the average article. And, although I keep good records, I’ve never done any research on that. In preparation for this article, I did a search on Google and found tons of research on website page views per visitor, but I found nothing on average page views for individual articles. So, in the interest of research, I compiled this information based on articles that I submitted to the largest submission site over the past three-months.

Keep in mind that I submit articles everyday. Therefore, some of the articles were submitted three months ago and some of the articles were submitted in the last week. Also, the information below represents the average performance, some articles did ten times better and some did one tenth as well.

Page Views

Page views are the lifeblood of your article business. The number of page views your article achieves determines all of the other performance figures that your article attains. Over this time period, my average article received 56 page views.

URL Clicks

The number of times that readers click on the links in your resource box is one of the main reasons that most of us write articles. On average, 3.7 readers have clicked on my links.

Some of my articles have had as many as 17% of the readers click on my links. This is an unusually high percentage. Using the average page views and URL clicks above, 6.6% of those who read my articles click on my links.

Ezines Published

My average article is published in 1.8 ezines.

Use the information posted above to compare the performance of your articles versus my three-month sample. I’d be very interested in seeing how these numbers compare with others who write articles on a consistent basis.

Increasing Url clicks With Your Articles

If the main goal of your article is to generate traffic to your site, don’t think of it as an article, think of it as a sales piece. Before writing the article, list your goals. Do you merely want to provide information and let people know you are knowledgeable in the field? Do you want to generate web traffic and entice readers to click on your links? It is imperative that you develop a goal for each article you write.

If your goal is to entice the viewer to click on your links, make sure you give them enough information in the article to pique their curiosity. Offer them more detailed information in your resource box by clicking the link.

Before writing your article, make a list of the main features of the item or service you are promoting. If you are writing about autoresponders, list the features of autoresponders. For each of these features, write how it would benefit the user. This is called a benefit. For example:
Feature - It can send out thousands of sales presentations simultaneously.
Benefit – You can earn thousands of dollars at the push of a button.

Paint a picture with your benefits. Make an emotional appeal so the viewers can actually see themselves. In the example above you can change the benefit to:
Let your autoresponder go to work earning you thousands of dollars while you take the day off and go to the beach.

Choose two or three of your strongest benefits and write them into your article. Start with the items that would be most attractive to your reader. It is not necessary to go into great detail; you will do that after they click on your link.

Lastly, it is absolutely imperative that you give your article a compelling title. Write an attention grabbing title that compels the viewer to read further. People tend to skim over the available titles when they are looking for information. Your article has to jump out at them. Your title is your advertising; it is the most important part of your article. If you write a great article and give it a boring title, no one will read it and all of your hard work will have been for nothing.

Using the techniques above, you can substantially increase the number of URL clicks your articles attain. I’m sorry, but I’ve got to go now. You see the tide is coming in and the waves are approaching my beach chair. Anyway, I can use another drink. I’ll meet you on the beach!

Just Starting Out? You Need an Autoresponder

Who needs an autoresponder? If you are just starting out online or if your Internet business is not making money, you need an autoresponder. Virtually anyone who is trying to make money online would benefit by using an autoresponder. The real money is made online by selling to your list of people. A good autoresponder is an absolute necessity to manage and sell to a large and/or growing list of subscribers.

What is an autoresponder? An autoresponder is an e-mail marketing and mailing list management tool. The first autoresponders were developed for email delivery systems. They sent an automatic notice to an original sender if an email could not be delivered to its intended address. Their messages were very simple, such as, “your email was not delivered to its intended recipient because…” Since then, autoresponders have come a long way.

It can perform multiple repetitive, but essential communication tasks for you. For example, you can use an autoresponder to send follow-up messages for e-courses and information you offer through your website. It can help you to maintain regular contact with prospective and existing clients. It can diseminate general information. It is an essential ingredient in building an opt-in subscriber list. You can use it to follow up with visitors, follow up with buyers, offer multi-part ecourses, sales presentations, and customer support. An autoresponder has hundreds, maybe even thousands of possible uses. You are only limited by your imagination.
By adding follow-up autoresponder marketing to your business automation, you are free to concentrate on those business tasks that require a higher level of human interaction, such as managing your business or developing new products.
How can you make money online using an autoresponder? First of all, you need to advertise so that people can sign up for your list. One of the best and cheapest forms of advertising is to write and submit articles.

To do this, you simply write 300-500 word articles like the one you're reading now. Make your articles useful and related to the information you are selling to your list. Pack your articles full of content that people need and can use. At the end of your article, place a resource box that contains a little ad and the link advertising the benefits of subscribing to your list. When people read your article, they will be able to click on your links and sign up for your list.

Set up your autoresponder to send out messages to your list every few days. Some of your messages will contain valuable information and or free reports and some of them will contain ads for the products you are recommending.

Of course, this is a very simplistic overview of the process, but it's an outline on how to get started making money with autoresponders.

You Never Know

There are thousands of programs circulating on the Internet. Some of them are great and some not so great. The problem is, you never know which is which until it is too late. Recently, I got a number of emails that went like this:
“Opportunity is knocking today.
Let me explain.
Russell Brunson is launching "IM MYTH", a new product that will expose the misconceptions about Internet marketing and ultimately lead to higher profits.
Russell has been in the business for quite a while and this promises to be a valuable product.
Now, I'll get to the point.
Russell will pay you $1 for every person that you refer who downloads a free report from his website!
And, he will also pay you .50 cents for every lead your referrals send him.
That's right, you get paid on 2 levels.
Go sign up now to start earning your commissions.
Although I have never promoted giveaways like this in the past, I have an associate who tried a similar promotion and made some money.
Russell is going to pay everyone by PayPal on October 31, 2007, so there will not be a long wait to get paid.
This promotion is only good through October 9, 2007 so HURRY!
Go sign up as an affiliate now.
Once you are signed up, where can you promote his report? Your website, blog, eBay About Me page, forums, your mailing list, everywhere.
This could be your chance to make some money for the holidays.”

I spoke to an acquaintance of mine who said she was involved with a similar program some time ago and she made some money with it. So what do you think I did? I signed up, of course. I’ll let you know how it works out in November. In the meantime, maybe you should sign up, too. After all, it’s free to join.

The advantages of Tracking Your Articles

Why would I need to track my articles? After all, my counter tells me if a hit to my site came from xyz submission site, so what is the advantage in adding tracking data?

I write a lot of articles, and, as a result, many of them are picked up and published by ezines that I never submit to. Although my counter tells me that this hit came from ABC ezine, I don’t know how it got there. By adding a tracking string to my URL, when that hit arrives on my site, it tells me exactly where it came from.

Another advantage in tracking your articles is that it can make you more efficient. Some time ago, I entered a tracking code into each article that I submitted to the smaller submission sites. After about three weeks, I noticed that I had not received any hits from a number of these sites. I was wasting my time in submitting to these sites. As a result, I deleted about 90 sites from my submission list. (I had been submitting each article to about 150 sites.) After that test, I paired my submission list down to about 60 sites. I saved about an hour a day with absolutely no decline in traffic! That is the power of a good tracking campaign.

In addition, you can track the performance of your ads and emails. With a good tracking campaign, you can determine which of your ads are working the best. If you find that one particular ad is performing better than others, use it more consistently and drop the poor performers. You are just wasting money when you place an ad that does not perform well. With each ad that I place, I enter the ad along with the tracking data into a file and save it on the computer. Then, it is an easy matter to see which ads are doing well and which ones are doing poorly. That way, I am continually improving the performance of my ad and email campaigns.

How do you track your articles and ads? It is actually quite simple. At the end of your URL, enter a slash, then a question mark, and the name of the test, ad, subject line, or Ezine that you are tracking (for example-blahblahblah.com/?ad1). Each time your website gets a hit from that source, your counter will log that visitor as coming from ad1. By comparing hits from competing ads, or articles, you can determine which are the most successful. Before you commit to any significant tracking campaign using this method, do a simple test to ensure that your website works properly with tracking data. Some servers do not recognize it and will return a “site not found” notice. If this is the case, you cannot use this simple tracking method.

We are all in this business for the same reason, to make money. To maximize the income you generate, track your results. By entering a small string after your URL you can determine where your website visitors are coming from. This can make a significant difference in your efficiency as well as your profits. A good tracking system can significantly improve the performance of your ads, articles, and subject lines.

How to Write Articles for the Internet

Many people enjoy writing but are reluctant to write for the Internet because they are unclear on the basics. Actually, a decent word processor and an Internet connection are all that you really need. Almost any topic that you chose to write about will find some sort of market on the Internet. Of course, some topics will attract thousands of readers while others will find just a few. The only way to find out is to write a few articles and submit them to the article submission sites. Over time, if you write and submit your articles on a regular basis, you may gather an audience that anxiously awaits your work.

Most articles written for the Internet contain about 500 words. Many submission sites will not accept articles of less than 350 words. Ideally, your article should contain 400 to 600 words. But keep in mind that there are no hard and fast rules. If your perfect article only has 278 words, try submitting it to a number of sites, the worst they can do is say no.

I like to start out with a working title. It is probably not the title I will use on the finished article, but it keeps me focused while I’m writing. Don’t spend a lot of time on your working title, it is only temporary.

In the first paragraph, give some sort of introduction to the material you are writing about. There are a number of ways that you can start your article. You can write about a problem that your article solves. You can discuss why it is important that people read your article. Or you can tell your readers about your experience and what makes you qualified to write this piece.

Try to craft your first paragraph so that it entices the viewers to read further. That’s the true test of a good first paragraph; it must intrigue your readers. If you can do this, half your battle is won.

The body of your article will consist of between two to ten paragraphs. Each paragraph will provide information on one fact, or item of information. Don’t think you need to stuff every bit of information in there; people don’t want to read a novel on the Internet.

Close out your information in the final paragraph. Tell them how their lives will be better by following the steps you’ve outlined above.

We’re almost done. Now you’re going to change your working title to a permanent one. The title is the most important part of your work. It is the advertising that will entice people to read your article. If you search for information at an article site, they list only the titles relevant to your search. It is important that your title be compelling. Design a title that entices people to read your work.

Your final step is to use a spelling and grammar checker on your work. After you’ve done that, carefully read your article for mistakes. A spelling checker will indicate that he word “cane” is correctly spelled, even though you intended to use the word “can”. Only a careful, slow reading will catch this type of mistake.

Now you have all the information you need on writing articles. What are you waiting for? Start writing!

If you would like to generate real money with your writing talent, write your own ebook. It’s easier than you think with Create Your Own Ebook in 3 Easy Steps. Get the details at http://www.milliondollararticle.com/ezebook.html
